Mr. Sanders died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Eureka, the son of Velma and Hazel Culler Sanders.
Mr. Sanders served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an airline mechanic in Kansas City. He owned and operated Nelson Buck Garage in Lawrence and later became a carpenter for the local union. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14.
He married Bonnie Jean Flory on June 27, 1947. She died March 29, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Greg, Lawrence; a granddaughter, Jamie; two great-grandchildren; and members of the Clinton Lake Marina.
