Corporal Morgan Smiley Baldwin, born 8 Jan 1894, was the son of Arthur J and Frances Rachel (Smiley) Baldwin of New York City.
In the 1900 census 6-year-old Morgan is living with his parents and siblings Donald 4, and Dorothy 1, at 141 Minna Avenue in East Orange, New Jersey. His father is an attorney.
Morgan graduated from Cornell University in 1915.
Morgan sailed for France with Company G of the 107th Infantry Regiment attached to the 27th Division from Newport News, Virginia, aboard the SS Panaman on 29 May 1918. His person to contact in case of emergency was his father, Arthur J Baldwin at 27 Pine Street in New York City.
Newspapers of the day say Morgan was mortally wounded on 29 Sep 1918. On 29 Sep the 27th Division was on the Hindenburg Line just west of Bony.

French Civilian Cemetery, Saint-Sever, Rouen, France on the afternoon of Thursday, October 10th, 1918 and was finally reinterned at Grave #15, Row #5, Section A. at Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France on the afternoon of Sunday, April 8th, 1928.
