Margaret "Peg" Maher, nee Hindes, entered into eternal life on November 2, 2022, preceded in death by the love of her life Cyril "Cy" Maher. Peg was a phenomenal mom to her 7 children: Dan (Janet) Maher, Peggy Jean (Jim) O'Keefe, Michael (Karen) Maher, Patti (Paul) Tyska, Beth (Gary) Ruske, Kathleen (Tony) Falco, and Maureen (Ron) Muchowicz. She loved being Gramma to every one of her 18 grandchildren: Jimmy (Nicki), Danny (Becky), Courtney (Neal), the late Sean, PJ (Nancy), Colleen (Jon), Michael (Paige), Katie, Matthew (Taylor), Maggi, Lucas, Frankie, Johnny, Olivia, Max, Molli, Mason and Machlen, and her 14.5 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Robert, Hannah, Mary, Sarah, Brigid, Carson, Lena, Maeve, William, Fiona, Goldi, Madison, Conor, and ?.

Peg attended more swim meets, band, theater and dance performances, football, softball, hockey, baseball, soccer, and basketball games, cheerleading and poms, bowling tournaments, Baptisms, First Communions, Special Person's days, Confirmations, Graduations, Weddings, and award ceremonies than most people could even imagine – and kept track of them all. Peg was aunt, sister, cousin, godmother, and loyal friend to many.

Peg lived a wonderful life; was a devout and active member of St. John Brebeuf Parish -- and by active we mean: St. John's Festival Co-Chair, St. John's Women's Club President, Girl Scout Leader, co-founder of SPRED/GLADD, Eucharistic Minister, and a volunteer extraordinaire. In 2018, Peg and Cy jointly received the Archdiocese of Chicago Christifideles Award for exemplifying a faith filled life.

We are all better for having been a part of her life and having her in ours.

Visitation at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles on Tuesday, November 8th from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass Wednesday, November 9th at 11:00 am at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles, Illinois.
