Franklin Dee Fuller, 65, died November 1, in Vanderbilt Hospital, in Nashville, Tenn., after a long illness. He was born November 11, 1941 in Jones County, to Marlin R. and Callie D. Whitman Fuller, who preceded him in death, as did his brothers Rev. Grady, Terry, Theodore and Charles Fuller.

Dee, as he was known by his family and friends, was a 1961 graduate from Putnam County High School in Eatonton. While in high school he was a star football player, earning a full scholarship to Auburn.

He was a letterman at Auburn University where he played as a defensive back, kicking off for the War Eagles from 1963-65 and going with them to the Orange Bowl in 1963. After graduation, he played a season with the Miami Dolphins.

He was a contractor for many years in Birmingham, Ala. and in middle Tennessee. He was an avid golfer, talented artist and active member of the Auburn Letterman Club.

Survivors include his children: Rev. Thame Fuller, Olympia, Wash.; Dawn Fuller Bussey of Sunnyvale, Calif.; Amy Fuller Hill of Auburn, Ala.; and grandchildren: Rebecca, Ryan and Nicole Fuller of Olympia, Wash.; Allison, Aris, Annabelle and Clayton Bussey of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and Evan Richardson and Boston Hill of Auburn, Ala.; sisters: Jean Yawn; Becky Barge; Millie Fowler; Fran Trent; Nina Edwards; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama at P.O. Box 10391, Birmingham, AL 35202 or to Callie Fuller Baptist Tabernacle, Monticello, GA 31064.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m., at Callie Fuller Baptist Tabernacle, Hwy 212, four miles west of Monticello.
