Michael David Bennett
November 20, 1951 - September 10, 2023

Michael David Bennett, 71, of Honey Brook (Township)*, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Chester County Hospital, West Chester.

He was the husband of Sharon Smith Bennett with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Leslie Samuel Bennett, Jr. and the late Kay Cullen Bennett. He grew up in West Chester and lived in East Fallowfield and Sadsburyville.

Mike was a professional photographer for twenty-five years and was a member of the Professional Photographers of America. He was a trainer for Hope Industries, a manufacturer of film processing equipment. He later opened his own photography studio and film processing lab in Thorndale. After leaving the photography industry, he received his Masters in Training and Development and was employed as a technical writer and trainer at Crane Payment Innovations in Malvern.

Mike volunteered with several community organizations. He was a member of Calvary Chapel – Chester Springs and the Downingtown Rotary Club, where he served a term as President. He was on the Adult Committee for Northern Chester County Young Life for over 10 years. Mike also served his community as a member of the Zoning Hearing Board for Sadsbury Township.

In addition to his interest in photography, Mike enjoyed visiting historic houses. In 2004, he purchased a circa 1798 Chester County farmhouse in Sadsburyville. He and his wife spent nineteen years renovating the house and outbuildings, doing much of the work himself. Mike was also an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife; two children, Christine (James) Flynn of Wayne and James (Caedran) Bennett of Denver, Colorado; and two grandchildren, Ryan Flynn and Alison Flynn, and a third grandchild expected; and two siblings, Jean Bail (Joseph) of Media, PA and Nancy Mellinger (Robert) of Quarryville, PA..

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Calvary Chapel - Chester Springs, 217 Dowlin Forge Rd, Exton, PA, where friends and family may visit 1 - 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Northern Chester County Young Life or the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
