Robert Emmet "Mick" Byrne

Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Sun., Jan. 16, 2022. Beloved husband of Pat Byrne (nee Loehrer); dear father and father-in-law of Sallie (Tom) Ewen, Mike Byrne, Kathie (Steve) Askren and Steve (Tricia) Byrne; loving grandfather of Brian and Kevin Askren and Madison and Aiden Byrne; dear brother of Steve (Sharon) Byrne and the late Pat Hoffmann; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Mick was born on January 23, 1936 into the family of Robert and Marguerite Byrne. Mick was the older brother to his siblings Pat and Steve. Raised in St. Louis, Mick attended Ferguson High School. There he met his high school sweet heart, Pat Loehrer who would become his life-long partner and wife for 64 years. Mick earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Missouri. During those years at MIZZOU, Mick was a member and President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon where he created friendships that would last throughout his life. Mick entered the Air Force after college and became a flight navigator in the F-101 Voodoo jet for several years. He and Pat started their family during this time in the Air Force. Mick went on to begin a long, successful and satisfying career as an investment advisor in St. Louis. Mick worked at Goldman Sachs for 30 years before leaving and starting Huntleigh Byrne Investment Advisors with his brother, Steve. After spending an additional 30 years there, Mick officially retired. During his career, Mick not only took personal interest in helping those for whom he worked, but could turn those relationships into sincere friendships along the way.

Mick was a husband, and dad to 4 children. He provided his family not only substance but strength, stability, guidance and faith. He encouraged his family to seek their dreams with the comfort of knowing he was always there supporting their accomplishments and being their biggest fan. Mick also reached out to help others in the community; his hands-on involvement with many charitable organizations included Friends of Kids with Cancer, Whole Kids Outreach, and acting as a CASA advocate. Throughout these devotions, he found playful balance with his cronies at Norwood Hills CC, accepting racquetball challenges, finding the regional car & boat shows as an excuse to gather the guys, and of course his routine boondoggles to Vegas with friends. His one of a kind sense of humor and love of life will be truly missed.
