Lawrence James Iskra was born on January 4, 1947 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, the oldest son of John and Anna Paul Iskra. He passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Arden Courts of Old Orchard, Easton Pennsylvania.

When he was a very young boy, the family lived in Northfield, Vermont, for several years. They returned to Hazen, New Jersey, and lived next door to George and Emma Spangenberg Paul-his grandparents.

Larry received his First Holy Communion on May 30, 1954 at St. Patrick's RC Church. As a young boy and teenager he would walk over 2 miles each way from the family home in Hazen down to the church In Belvidere for Mass and CCD. He worked next door at the Albert Smith farm for many years.

He was a 1965 graduate of Belvidere High School, where he played on the football team and was a wrestler. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division-3rd Battalion. He served three tours in Vietnam and received two Purple Hearts.

During the summers of 1970-1973 he worked at Riegel Paper Corportation paper mills.

He graduated from Monmouth College, West Long Branch, New Jersey, on May 26, 1973, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He and his wife, Joanne, were the first married couple to graduate at the College.

In January 1974 he began a long career as a chemical operator for Hoffman-LaRoche both in Belvidere and in Florence, South Carolina. He also was the owner of North Warren Forest Products; selling firewood and doing timber stand improvements. He enjoyed hunting, stamp collecting, drawing, and photography.

He was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Belvidere, New Jersey. It was there that he was married on June 6, 1970. He is survived by his former wife Joanne Flores, three sons Kurt, Douglas, and Kevin, and six grandchildren Allison, Gavin, Madeline, Ryan, Emma, and Camden. Additional survivors include a sister, Susan, and three half-siblings, David, Lois, and Dale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 8, 2023, at St. Patrick's RC Church. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of MacFadden Funeral Home, Belvidere, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry's memory to St. Patrick's RC Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
