His impressive monument was commissioned by a number of subordinate lodges of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and executed by Van Gunden & Young, marble workers, at the cost of $6,500.00 to erect the impressive column topped with square and compass that stands in the Circle of St. John's section of Mount Moriah.
William married Margaret L. Runhardt. Their children were Charles, Harriet, Ellen, Lewis, Margaret, William, George, Charlotte and Edward.

Note: Originally buried in Monument Cemetery on Dec 23, 1867 with his young son William. Both were moved to Mt. Moriah cemetery on Oct 8, 1869.
Shares stone with son Charles, who succeeded his father as The Grand Tyler of the Grand Lodge.
Monument appears to be sponsored by Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, and William a Grand Tyler of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. His face was engraved on the monument.
