James Scott Rogers, 76, of Lampasas passed away on Monday, August 7. He was one of 8 children born to Herman and Ivera (Williams) Rogers in Lone Grove, Texas on March 24, 1947. He served in the US Army after being drafted in 1969 until he retired from active duty on June 1, 1999 as a Sergeant Major with 30 years of service. During his time in the Army he was stationed in several states across the USA (Illinois, Kansas, Texas & Virginia) and overseas (Germany, Turkey, Korea) including working for several years at the Pentagon but he always called Texas his home.

James was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ivera Rogers, his grandparents William and Nora (Scott) Rogers and William and Vessie (Fry) Williams, and siblings Roger Herman, William Royce "Bill", Shirley Clarice "Sister" Ashabranner, Patricia Gay Arburthnot, Karen Sue Powell, and Cynthia Louise Decker.

He is survived by his wife Tong Ye of Lampasas, brother Mike Rogers & wife Charmane of Llano, TX, daughter, Nicole Wiebe (Rogers) & husband Bryan of Colorado City, TX, daughter Tracy Puda (Rogers) & husband Jake of Lampasas, TX, son, Troy Rogers & wife Zoey of Lampasas, TX, son, Kevin Rogers & wife Molly of Katy, TX. Grandchildren; Shae Wiebe, Dylan Wiebe and wife Meagan, Brandon Scott, Sydney Johnson and fiancé Eric Paredes, Austin Puda, Kate Rogers and Jack Rogers and great-grandchildren Randy, Ariel, James, Delaney and Amelia Wiebe, and many nieces and nephews.

Scott, as most people called him since a young age, enjoyed all things outdoors. He loved trees & birds and would often converse with anyone about the different species of both. Before the muscular dystrophy set in he enjoyed taking his children and Grandkids on long walks through the pasture talking about the trees, birds and hunting for barrel cactus. He had a great fondness for Dogs and always had a companion by his side. Additionally, he loved sports but Football and Golf were his favorites. He enjoyed talking "sports" for hours with his family and throughout his life enjoyed playing golf with his children, friends and nephews.

A visitation for James will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:30am at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, Killeen, Texas. A funeral service will follow directly after the visitation at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home from 11:30am – 12:30pm. Interment will occur Monday August 14, 2023 at 1:00pm at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, TX.
