Perry Abel, one of this county's oldest and most highly respected citizens, passed away at his home here last Monday morning. The end came after months of intense suffering, through which he passed with great patience and fortitude. During these long months of suffering everything possible was done for Mr. ABEL, with the hope that he might again be restored to perfect health, but to no avail. Mr. Abel has resided in this locality for many years, and enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a host of friends. In his death the community loses an honest, up-right citizen and his family a devoted husband and father. Mr. Abel was born Feb. 1, 1839, near Summerset, Kentucky. At the time of his death he was aged 70 years, 5 months and 11 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here last Friday morning, conducted by the Rev. D.A. Shutt. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends witnessed the last sad rites. Mr. Abel was a member of the G.A.R., having taken par!
t in the war of the rebellion. Six members of the Grand Army Post of Perry acted as pallbearers, and the Post had charge of the services at the grave. Interment was made in the Buster cemetery near Williamstown.
Mr. Abel is survived by a wife, three daughters and six sons, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their great loss.
Card of Thanks.
We desire to express our heartfelt thanks to our neighbors and friends for their kindness and help through the sickness and death of husband and father. Also for the beautiful floral offerings.
Mrs. Fannie Abel and Children.
