Patricia A. Proulx, 83

July 30, 1939 ~ July 19, 2023

Patricia A Proulx Obituary

On Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, Patricia Ann Proulx passed away peacefully at the age of 83.

She was the loving wife of Paul Proulx and mother of five children; Victor (Gail) of Bonney Lake, David (Maria) of Browns Point, Mike (Kimberli) of Duvall, Teresa (Levi Mitchell) of Spokane and Jacob (Michelle) of Bonney Lake. She's the grandmother of ten grandchildren, and great grandmother of 15 great-grandchildren.

Pat was born on July 30th, 1939 in St. Maries, Idaho. As a young girl (12 to 15 years old), she worked at the family logging business working as a cook for the loggers during the summers. She attended St. Maries High School and shortly thereafter began working as a waitress in a local diner in St. Maries. It was there she met her sweetheart, Paul, on June 2, 1956. They married on March 2, 1957. Soon after that they started their family and life together. For the first 10 years of their marriage, Paul worked for the railroad and they moved to various cities, including St. Maries ID and Auburn WA. After dad left the railroad and went to work for the City of Renton, they moved to Federal Way for a year and then to their final home in Renton, Washington. That's where they settled in and lived for the last 55 years. Pat worked in various occupations over the years. Most notably, she worked at the jewelry and cosmetics counter for Sears. Shortly thereafter she went to work with her son, David, at the Captains Restaurant in Renton. She then went to work for US West as an administrative assistant. Her job moved her to Bellevue where she worked for US West Direct until she retired nearly 20 years later. During her retirement years, she helped out as a receptionist for TransTech Electric, where Paul and she both worked until they retired.

Not only was Pat a loving and doting mother, she was also very active in her children's lives. There were baseball, basketball, wrestling, softball, soccer and football games that she and Paul attended religiously. During the games, you could hear her cheer loudly for her sons/daughter while at play. Pat would drop everything she was doing to help or tend to her children's needs. Pat was also great about keeping the kids on task when it came to doing their chores. One memorable moment was when she had the kids tear the old siding off the house because she wanted new siding and windows installed before winter. This forced Paul's hand to do the new siding sooner than he wanted to. Paul shared that Pat also kept him on task until the job was done, lol!

Patricia loved sewing and embroidery. One project she worked on was embroidering jackets for all of her children with a Bicentennial theme. They wore them with pride! She also loved boating with Paul. They owned several boats that were used to journey out into Puget Sound and the Straits of Juan de Fuca. There they spent days fishing and crabbing with their children and grandchildren. Later on they purchased property in Rim Rock Meadows where they spent many summers camping in their 5th wheel. It was during these later years of camping that she started exhibiting signs and symptoms of Alzheimers, brought on by dementia. Unfortunately, their days of camping and boating were brought to an end because of her illness. Pat and Paul lived at home until Pat had a stroke. She ultimately lived out her remaining months in a loving, adult family care home where she passed away peacefully with her family nearby. We will never forget our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will all miss her forever!
