Arthur Lee Sutton was born January 10, 1876 to Anniva James Baker and James W. Bradley. When he was three his mother married Samuel Sutton, whose last name he was given. Arthur learned to play the violin and harmonica as a boy, and as a young man, with his harmonica attached to his 'fiddle', he played for many dances. He was a staunch Baptist and later stopped playing for dances, only playing for pleasure. He was an accomplished furniture maker and carpenter. He made communion tables for many of the churches in Macon County, along with furniture items for the public and his family, including a much treasured violin he made for himself in 1937. He also was a bee keeper and sold honey to the people in Macon. Arthur and his first wife, Lula Means, had a daughter, Rubey Marie. Lula died from a brain hemorrhage in 1923. He and Frankie Jane (Polson) Brock were married on January 3, 1925 at the Christian parsonage in Macon by Rev. O.L. Angel. They were the parents of two children, Chester and Ellen. He was a loving husband and father until stomach cancer took him from his family on November 23, 1959.
