Steve Dewayne Gould
January 3, 1954 - June 29, 2023
(Note from his wife, Debbie). Steve was my soulmate and I just do not know how to go on without him. I have loved him since I was 16 years old. I so love and miss him!

Steven Dewayne Gould was born January 3, 1954, to Ralph and Wynama Gould in Lubbock, TX. A lifelong resident of Lubbock, Steve graduated from Coronado High School in 1973 where he walked 10 miles uphill in the snow in both directions. He married Carol in 1973 and together they raised their 5 children. During that time he worked for Bassinger Sandblasting for 27 years. From there he worked as a Paint Foreman at Beck Steel until his retirement in 2021. Steve was blessed with a large and loving family which grew even more when he married Debbie on April 16, 2016. On Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the early morning, he passed from this life peacefully in his sleep at the age of 69.

He was a man of many names, Steven, Steve, Stevie, Son, Daddy, Big Steve, but most importantly, Pappy. He loved all sports. He loved supporting his teams, Texas Tech, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Rangers but the teams he supported the most were those of his kids and then grandkids. When he wasn't out watching sports he was at the lake fishing or tending to his garden. He would plant things because a friend or family member spoke about it. He would learn about the planting time and what needed to be done to the soil before, during, and after planting to make sure the plant produced its 'fruit'. He would water, weed, and harvest to share with anyone. He would always greet you with a big smile and a hug, whether just meeting someone or seeing an old friend, and would leave you with a handful of mints or butterscotch.

Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie Gould; children, Bo (Tony) McRorey, Kimberly (Paul) Pena, Tammy (Charlie) Smith, Carrie (Jim) Grubelnik, Leslie (Blake) Hulsey, Steven (Marissa) Gould; 16 grandchildren, Aron McRorey, Shane (Tuesday) McRorey, Kara (Kristoffer) McElhaney, Nikolas Pena, Ian Pena, Vincent Pena, Makenly Smith, Taryn Smith, Owen Smith, Brooke Morrison, Brenda Morrison, Blaine (Colt) Morrison-Beers, Jaidon Hulsey, Lizbeth Hulsey, Hadley Gould, Ryder Gould; 4 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Gaskins, Annabelle McElhaney, Lillian McRorey, Oliver McRorey; 2 step-sons, Paul McRorey, Sean (Michelle) McRorey; 6 step-grandchildren, Ariel McRorey, Skylar McRorey, Allen McRorey, William McRorey, Abigail McRorey, Conor McRorey; 2 siblings, Nettie (Don) Garrett, Lynn (Becky) Gould; and bonus brother and sister, Mary and Bobby Blagg.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph, and Wynama Gould.
