Daughter of John Thomas Grant and Esther Pratt who were married on the 31st December 1868 at St. James' Church, Southam, Warwickshire.

The 1881 Census states that Amy, who was less than two months old, lived in Coventry Street, Southam, with her father, John, 41, a baker, her mother, Esther, 39, three sisters, two brothers, and her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Pratt, 79. Sadly, Amy's father died on the 13th August 1883, aged 44.

The 1911 Census states that Amy, 30, was a nurse in home of Mrs. Catherine Mary Wentworth, widow, of Lieut-Colonel Peter Withington, in Torquay, Devon. Although Amy was employed as a nurse, she was still considered to be a servant, and she was one of ten servants employed at the twenty-two roomed house.

Amy married widower, George Adams on the 9th August 1920 at St. James' Church, Southam, they spent their honeymoon in Brighton.

George, who was a grocer and ironmonger, died just 16 months after their wedding, he was just 44.

The 1939 England and Wales Register states that Amy, was living at 10a, St. Mary's Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, with her son, Ronald, 18, and step-daughter, Louisa Elizabeth, 23.

The funeral took place at Southam, on Friday, of Mrs. Amy Louisa Adams, of Leamington, who died a few days previously at the Warneford Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. George Adams, who carried on a grocery and provisions business at Southam.

Previous to leaving twelve years ago to live in Leamington, she took an active interest in the social life of Southam, and was connected with most of the local bodies, including Women's Institute, Infant Welfare, Conservative Association etc. The funeral was conducted by Rev. F. A. Bunn, of St. Mary's, Leamington, of which the late Mrs. Adams was a member.
