Mrs. Esther Adkins. Another old and well-known resident of Colton, CA received death's summons last night. Mrs. Esther Adkins dying at her home in South Colton, CA shortly after 10 o'clock. The deceased was a widow. She was born in Rockbridge Co., VA, 86 years ago next May. When a young girl, she moved with her family to Trenton, MO., where she married. She later lived for some years in Illinois, coming with her three sons to Colton in 1886 and had resided here over 19 years. Mrs. Adkins was a mother of 12 children, six of whom survive her. They are:
Mrs. James Dowler
Mrs. H. (Henry) Gay of Mercer, MO.
a son in Indian Territory and three sons in Colton.
City Marshall, T. S. Adkins, Southern Pacific officer
James Adkins a Southern Pacific car inspector
Daniel C. Adkins.
The two last-named have made their home with their mother.
The funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at the home at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. H. E. Wilhite, pastor of the Christian Church at San Bernardino, of which denomination Mrs. Adkins was a member. The interment will be in the San Bernardino Cemetery.
