Gary graduated from UT with a degree in Electrical Engineering and began working for Lockheed Martin in the early 1980s. He devoted over 30 years of his life to working for Lockheed Martin, first in Austin, then in Huntsville, Alabama, where he lived in his retirement.
Gary loved being active and spending time outdoors. He had many hobbies, including kayaking, canoeing, SCUBA diving, bicycling, camping, and hiking. He had a restless curiosity and intellect and seemed to know a little bit about just about everything. He enjoyed playing strategy games and, at one time, had an impressive collection. He appreciated a good beer and a good laugh.
His friends and family admired and loved Gary for his kind and gentle spirit, his adventurousness, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help. He embraced life to its fullest. Though he did not have children of his own, he was very influential to his nephews and younger cousins, who looked up to him and thought he was the coolest.
Gary is survived by his parents, Laurine and Gordon Goucher, and his three siblings, Mark Goucher, David Goucher, and Jim Goucher.
