John Francis Sutherland, 100, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, at Beacon Place Hospice.
John was born October 12, 1916, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Arthur and Mary Sutherland. He retired from the United States Army, in which he proudly served his country with the rank of Sergeant Major. He worked for law enforcement as a police officer in New York City for 25 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sutherland was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn.
Those left to cherish Mr. Sutherland's memory are his daughter, Patty Humburg and her husband, Ed of Greensboro; granddaughters, Katy Humburg of Winston Salem, Kristen Humburg Charlotte, and sisters, Alice Schmidt and her husband, Max of Greensboro and Agnes Lange of Florida. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
