Pamela Jean Welch, 75 of Harrold, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Vernon, Texas with Rev. Toby Castleberry and her son, John Paul Welch, officiating. Burial will follow at Electra Cemetery in Electra, Texas under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Pam was born Thursday, March 25, 1948, in Electra, Texas to the late Winfred Eugene Varner and the late Daisy Mildred Givens Varner. She married Sammie John Welch on November 26, 1966, in Burkburnett, Texas. She lived on the Waggoner Ranch from 1968 - 2015. During that time she babysat many of the ranch kids, and she loved each one of them as if they were her own. Pam graduated from Beauty School, but her true passion was cooking. She worked as a Child Nutrition Professional at Hawkins Elementary kitchen and the Vernon High School kitchen. She then worked in the Waggoner National Bank kitchen for many years. In 1981 she enrolled her children into Harrold ISD and fell in love with the school and the community. She began working as a Child Nutrition Professional in the kitchen in 1984, and a few years later she became the Child Nutrition Manager. She was famously known for her homemade rolls and cream pies. During the thirteen years she worked at Harrold ISD, she wore many hats. She helped direct the One Act Plays and was the cheerleading sponsor. She enjoyed working in the concession stand for the Booster Club. Pam also helped with the Harrold Stock Show. She was always one of Harrold's biggest supporters.
Pam's pride and joy was her family. She loved holidays, family gatherings, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She enjoyed crochet, baking, crafts, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She was a very supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She had so much love that it spilled over to others. So much so that children from the ranch, church, and in Harrold called her "Meme". Pam loved them with all of her heart, as if they were her own grandchildren.
Pam was a member of Rock Crossing Baptist Church in Grayback, Texas where she volunteered in the nursery. She then became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Vernon, Texas where she served in many areas. She enjoyed serving in the kitchen for Wednesday night meals, singing in the choir, and helping wherever she was needed. She loved the Lord and was a true servant of God.
Pam is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Sammie Welch; three children, John Paul Welch & wife Jennifer, Tammie Newcomer & husband Randy, and Travis Welch & wife Angela; one sister, Deborah Varner; eleven grandchildren, Kellie Williams & husband Jeffrey, Daly Welch & wife Jaimey, Jakeb Welch & wife Sydnee, Taylor Polvado & fiancé Wyatt, Rainey Newcomer & boyfriend Quincy, Kagen Welch, Aspen Newcomer, Carson Welch, Lilly Welch, Sawyer Welch, and Brasen Welch; three great grandchildren, Dalyn Welch, Roan Welch, and Ember Welch, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pam also leaves behind a very special cousin, who was as close as a sister, Dawn Fisher & husband Scott and their children, Codi Parks and Clayton Fisher.
Pam is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Destiney Paige Newcomer.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas.
