A Myers Park High School graduate who served in the Air Force from 1976 through 1978, mostly at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. After the Air Force, he worked as an engineering designer and project manager and most recently held the role of Senior Project Manager for Johnson Controls Integrated Security. He was a member of Mint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue for 15 years (1983-1998).
