Funeral for Homer Alston Greenwood, 88, of Palestine was Friday, Nov. 30 in Palestine with burial at Palestine City Cemetery.
Greenwood died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, in Tyler.
Born July 16, 1919, in Forestburg to Burley Gano and Rhoda Skinner Greenwood, he was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Wise County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Greenwood was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Gillam Greenwood in 1990; a son, Guy Alston Greenwood; a sister, Mertle Poteet; brothers, Robert Greenwood, Guy Greenwood and Lawrence Greenwood; and a nephew, Mark Poteet.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Roberts and husband, Bill, of Eureka Springs, Ark., Sharon Gibbs and husband, Randel, of Garland and Sarah Squyers of Palestine; sons, Jesse Bowles Jr. and wife, April, of Jacksonville, Fla., Homer Andrew Greenwood and wife, Rosanne, of Mesquite, William Alton Greenwood of Palestine and Michael Allan Greenwood and wife, Tracy, of Frankston; nieces, Olita Lanier of Forestburg and Anita Hancock of Alvord; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren."
