Daughter of Charles Victor and Elizabeth Bouton Bleecker, she graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1935. She married William E. Christiansen on 27 September, 1939.

Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., Betty grew up in Bloomfield, N.J., and moved to Verona when her husband returned from serving honorably in World War II. She worked for many years as a cashier in the Verona High School cafeteria. Betty was very active with the Verona Presbyterian Church, serving as a greeter, deacon, elder, a member of the choir, and a member of United Presbyterian Women. She also was a volunteer with the Montclair Community Hospital, Mountainside Hospital, Hospice of West Essex, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Verona Rescue Squad, the Community Food Bank, and the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

She was very active and a past regent of the Major Joseph Bloomfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Betty was the wife of the late William Christiansen, and the mother of Barbara and William. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris , Damian, Julia, Timothy , David, Sam; 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her former daughter-in-law, Annemarie .
