Charles W. McCullough was born in Clark County, Ohio to John William and Margaret Ann (Kitchen) McCullough. Charles was the oldest of four children. Charles married Lydia Jones, daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Jones on March 30, 1871 in Greene County, Ohio. To this union three children was born. Charles was a pioneer resident of Gage County, Nebraska moving his family into the Sicily Township, Gage County, Nebraska in 1883 from Ohio. Charles was a prominent resident of this area owning a large farm and raising stock. He was active in the Republican party and was elected to serve in the Nebraska legislature in 1906. He served one term and returned to his farm but remained active in politics and his community. He retired in the later years and moved into the city of Blue Springs, Gage County, Nebraska.
