Services for Jesse Earnest Hix, 83, Mabank, were held in Eubank Memorial Chapel Nov. 30, 2004, with the Rev. Justin Pickard officiating. Burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
His was born Sept. 28, 1921 in Gainesboro, Tenn., and died Nov. 28, 2004, in Athens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Hix, brother, Arthur Hix, father, Nathan L Hix and mother, Mary Jane (Dixon) Hix.

He was a painter and lived in Mabank for 20 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hix, Mabank; son, Doyle Hix, Irving; daughters, Shirley Faye Harrington, Irving; Karen Blackman, Irving; stepson, Byron Clark, Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Elmer Hix, Mabank; Carmel Leon Hix, Wautaga; many other relatives and a host of friends.
