Mildred Allred 1918 ~ 2007 Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died January 13, 2007. She passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her sons and daughters and many other family members. Mildred was born December 30, 1918 in Price, Utah to Olga and Arnel Downard. She grew up there and graduated from Carbon County High School. She married her sweetheart, Robert Clay Allred on July 27, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Clay passed away in 1999. Mildred made a very loving home for their six children, Dan (Deanna) Allred, Marilyn (Howard) McDonald, Lyn (Ed) Dialogue, Eric (Phyllis) Allred, E. Hillary (Paul) Lessing and Edwin (Bettina) Allred. She had 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren. Mildred's great passion in life was sewing, quilting and anything to do with fabric! She was so adept with her hands that at eight years old she was teaching embroidery and sewing to 4H groups and classes. And she kept on sewing. . . she sewed shirts, slacks, PJs, dresses, coats and skirts. She also enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. All of her family owns pillowcases, tablecloths, scarves, etc. that she lovingly made for them. She also loved to quilt. She created and gave away hundreds of quilts to family and friends. Mildred had a great love and faith in the LDS Church and served in all the different positions she was called to. In her later years she faithfully served a mission with her husband to New Zealand South. She was looking forward to being reunited with her husband and family for time and all eternity. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20th, 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family for one hour prior to services. Interment will follow.
