Brutus Carson Anderson, 83, of Abingdon, died Friday, October 29, 1999 at his home. He was a native of Pageland, South Carolina and had lived in Abingdon for the last ten years. He was the son of the late Caulie and Mamie Anderson.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in World War II and was the laundry manager for Virginia Tech and Radford College for 20 years. He was a member of the Abingdon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Rogers Anderson; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Marcella) Shilling, Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Charles Anderson, Pageland, S.C.; one sister, Johnsie Watson, Hartsville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Donald Cary Robertson, Kimberly Cockey, Stephanie Shipley, Jennifer Shilling; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 30, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Stephen Pollard officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Abingdon Baptist Church Harry Denton Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abingdon Baptist Church General Fund, 361 W. Main Street, Abingdon, Va. Farris Funeral Service is serving the family of Mr. Anderson.
