He was born July 23, 1950 in Napoleon, Ohio to Walter & Norma Jean (Anderson) Shanks. He was a truck driver for Safety Grooving and Grinding of Napoleon. He was a member of the United States Army Reserves. He is survived by his mother, Norma Shanks of Malinta, Ohio; son, Jasen (Lisa) Shanks of Malinta, Ohio; daughter, Sara (Mike) Shaw of Toledo, Ohio; brothers, Robert "Rob" (Henrietta) Shanks of Napoleon, Ohio, Andrew (Susan) Shanks, Adam (Shasta) Shanks, both of Malinta, Ohio; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter.
