Our dear mother, Helen A. DeRose, was called home by God on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022, at the age of 97 at Butler Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she passed. She was a wonderful and devoted mother and grandmother, who was always there when we needed her.
Born in Butler on June 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Rose (Mirga) Andres. They instilled in Helen the value of hard work and being proud of what one can accomplish.
Helen was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora, the Sisterhood of the Altar, and the church choir.
She graduated from Butler High School in 1943. After graduation, she went to work for Pullman-Standard Car Company in Butler.
Helen was a devoted and loving mother of two children, Andrea Krizner and her husband, James, of Butler, and Carmen Pete DeRose Jr., of Butler; two grandchildren, Cole Krizner and Kristen Krizner, both of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews. Helen was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen P. DeRose Sr., who passed away April 16, 1994; four brothers; and three sisters.
DEROSE - Funeral services and burial were private for Helen A. DeRose, who died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
