She was the daughter of David W. HIndman and Velma Cotton Hindman.

She never married.


On the 1930 census she is the governess for the Joseph, James and Jack, the sons of James and Delia Staley. Mr. Staley listed his occupation as oil operator.

Bernice Hindman

Miss Bernice Hindman, 79, Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Board of Staley Oil Co., died Sunday, August 28, at her home in Wichita Falls. She was a former resident of Paris. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 30, in the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Wichita Falls. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery there. Miss Hindman was born September 27, 1897, in Paris. She graduated from Paris High School and attended East Texas State University in Commerce and Columbia University in New York. Prior to her association with Staley Oil Co., she taught school in Breckenridge and Wichita Falls.


She was a member of the boards of the American Red Cross and Wichita Falls Day Nursery and was a member of the Wichita Falls Country Club, Women's Forum and Wichita Falls Symphony League. She is survived by two nephews, Pete Hindman of Paris and Lucien Spear of Hugo, Oklahoma, and four nieces, Mrs. Irene Ford, Mrs. Betty Deyhle and Mrs. Frances Collard, all of Honey Grove and Mrs. Mavis Bass of Plainview.
