Rising Star, Texas - Pearl Lucille Landess Anderson went home to her Lord and Savaior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the age of 95.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Jack "Buck" Anderson, her son, Jackie Warren Anderson and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Clyde with Dr. Toby Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Eula Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Clyde.

Pearl was born on March 3, 1913 in Dermott, Texas in Scurry County to Sally Kirkland Landess and Joe G. Landess. Farming always played a central role in Pearl's life, including when she met and married Buck on June 11, 1932. Together the couple spent their life farming either cotton or pecans in and around Texas and New Mexico until their retirement in the mid-1980s.

Pearl was a gracious and beautiful woman with an impeccable sense of style that showed in the care she took of herself, the clothes she wore and how she presented herself. Pearl always thought of others above her own needs and always had a kind word to say. Pearl loved painting, poetry and keeping a journal/calendar of her daily activities and events in her life. Besides farming, Pearl was a graduate of Dot's Beauty School in Abilene and maintained a beauty salon in Gorman in the 1970s. Pearl was also a proud, longtime member of the Order of the Easter Star and attended church faithfully.

Pearl especially enjoyed the years she spent on the family's 210-acre pecan orchard outside of Comanche, Texas. There she would coordinate family reunions each year and played social director for both the men and women. Dominoes, arts and crafts, and cooking were among the many things she enjoyed most.

Pearl and Buck moved to Clyde, Texas in 1993 after the orchard became too much for them. They still maintained and took pride in a small garden beside their home on 14-acres. The couple joined and attended the First Baptist Church of Clyde regularly and had many dear friends in the Who So Ever Will Sunday School class at the church who helped support her in her times of need.

Pearl is survived by her grandson, Bage Jackson Anderson and wife Elizabeth, great-grandson, Jackson Wyatt and great-granddaughter Holley Marie of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Amber Elizabeth Curry and husband Ray of Grand Prairie, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

The world was a better place for having had Pearl "Nanny" Anderson in it and she will be sorely missed until that day when we all see her again.
