Joy Tyrell Loyd Estep
Dec. 16, 1959 – Mar. 23, 2023

Joy Tyrell Loyd Estep was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Tyrell was born on December 16, 1959, to Darrell Meryl Loyd and Marietta Marguerite Richmond Loyd in Shreveport, Louisiana. Tyrell will forever be remembered as a loving and joyous daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and friend.

Born to serve the Lord, Tyrell decided from a very young age to dedicate her life to the service of Jesus and others. After graduating from Northwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1977, Tyrell studied Theology at the Baptist Tabernacle in Shreveport, Louisiana, and at Hyles-Anderson College in Indiana. She completed her education at Longview Baptist Temple, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Christian Education. Tyrell began her teaching career at Mount Olive Christian School, in Athens, Louisiana, where she delighted in teaching elementary students. After numerous years of loving and teaching children, Tyrell retired from Caddo Parish Schools.

Tyrell was a longtime member of Indian Hills Baptist Church in Shreveport before joining Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bossier City where she served in children's ministries.

Tyrell lived each day of her life in complete faith and pure joy. It was impossible to leave her gentle presence without experiencing the overwhelming love of Christ. Tyrell had many gifts including singing, drawing, painting, and writing in which she always used for the glory of the Lord.

Tyrell was incredibly devoted to her family, whom she adored with the deepest love imaginable. She is survived by her mother, Marietta Marguerite Richmond Loyd; her sister, Karen Loyd; brother, Stirling Loyd (Kristi); nieces and nephews, Brock and Lacey Oakes, Dade and Emma Loyd; and grandnieces and grandnephew, Reide and Amelia Oakes, Macen Nix, and Noah Bradshaw, all of whom she considered the light of her life as she always treated each of them as if they were her very own children.

Tyrell is preceded in death by her husband, Marty Estep; her beloved Daddy, Darrell Meryl Loyd; grandparents, Beulah Jordan Richmond and Eli Richmond, Aubrey Pearson Loyd and Rufus Loyd; and dear friend, Kimberly Tutton Whitehead.

The visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Rose-Neath Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. Pastor Don Tinsley will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hosston Cemetery in Hosston, Louisiana.
