Elmer DeWeerd, age 92, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Jeanette DeWeerd; parents, Peter and Adrianna DeWeerd; sisters, Edna, Hermina (Harvey) VanRhee, Esther (Gradus) Scholten; brothers, Lewis (Hazel, Lorraine) DeWeerd, Purcel (Hilda) DeWeerd, Merlin Cook; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Zinger, Clinton (Marion) Zinger, Melvin (Jenny) Zinger, Russel (Annie) Zinger, Harold (Helen) Zinger, Henry (Mary) Zinger, Josephine (John) Dykstra. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 15 years, Ann Postma DeWeerd; children, Maribeth and Robert Bruins, Duane DeWeerd, Terri and David Mulder, Cheryl and Mark Battjes; grandchildren, Laura and Aaron Ras, Heather and Andrew Scott, Andrew and Nikki Bruins, Katelyn and Nathan Rossin, Chelsea Mulder, Shaelyn Mulder, Nick and Harle Battjes, Anna Battjes, Halle Battjes; great grandchildren, Alaina Ras, Ruby Ras, Cassie Scott; stepchildren, Craig Postma, Chuck and Diane Koning, Doug and Cindy Postma, Gary and Dawn Nagelkirk; 12 step grandchildren; 23 step great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Henry and Kathy DeWeerd, Arlene Cook, Allen and Donna DeWeerd, Carol and Ed Curths; sister-in-law, Elaine Zinger; many nieces, nephews and friends. Elmer was known for his devotion to God and his love for his family, and his country. He was a United States Army veteran. He greatly enjoyed bowling and loved to tease and prank his friends and family. Laughter was never in short supply when he was around. He will be greatly missed.
