Mr. Francis Willard Thomas, 89, died Saturday night (Feb. 12, 2005) at his residence in Kingsland after a brief illness.

He was a native of Waycross, but he has lived in Camden County for 43 years. He was a supervisor in the bag plant at Gillman Paper in St. Mary's. He served in the United States Army as a military police during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingsland, Member Emeritus of the St. Mary's Masonic Lodge, and an honorary member of Big Buck Hunting Club.

He is the son of the late James Edmund Thomas and Agnes Griffin Thomas. He is the husband of the late Myrtice Woodard Thomas.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan T. Keenan (husband Vernon) of Canton, Cindy Smith (husband Lawton) of Woodbine; four grandchildren, Vernon Mack Keenan III, T. Jackson Keenan, Jake Smith, and Ansley Smith; two brothers, Floyd Thomas (wife Marguerite) of Waycross, and Omer Thomas (wife Violet) of Palatka, FL; four sisters, Edna Strickland of Waycross, Naomi Strickland of Waycross, Ruth Davis of Macon, and Myrtle Henderson of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2005) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
