John Franklin Rutherford, 83, of Wayne, WV, went to be with the Lord at the Huntington Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was born in Sidney, WV, a son of the late Spence and Emma (Jackson) Rutherford. John was a self-employed business man, having owned Rutherford's Hardware, Rutherford Construction Company, as well as Wayne T.V. and Appliance. He was a member of the Wayne Baptist Church for 54 years and Huntington Lodge #64, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post 8429 and American Legion Post 93. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Mills and her husband, Norwood, a brother, Wallace Rutherford and his wife, Gladys, and an infant brother, Spence Rutherford, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ernestine Dean Rutherford; two sons, John Michael Rutherford and wife, Rosemary of Wayne, WV, and Joseph Jeffery Rutherford and his wife, Jeanette of Lavalette, WV; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Shannon and Kylie Jo Rutherford; three brothers, Joe D. Rutherford and wife, Nancy of Belmont, CA, Jackie Rutherford and wife, Dannie of Lake Placid, Fl, and Bill Rutherford and wife, Frances of Okeechobee, FL; several nieces, nephews and special cousins.
