GARBER, Henry Lowell CA, CPA 1925 - 2018
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, at home, peacefully, in the company of his loving family on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the age of ninety-three years. Much loved and adored husband and life partner of Millie Garber for sixty-three years. Truly devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Barry, Sydney, Cynthia and Alon (Adam). Cherished and ever present grandfather of Brandon, Ethan, Avery and Matthew Adam. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Arnold and Naomi, the late Morris and the late Alice Garber, the late Irving and the late Muriel Garber, the late Sophie and the late Al Goldenberg, the late Sydney Garber and the late Eli Garber. Henry was born in Montreal to Ben-Zion and Sadie Garber and was the first member of his family to graduate from McGill University. He was a proud CA who started and operated his own firm for over sixty-five years making him one of the longest continuously practising chartered accountants in the Province of Quebec. He was made an honorary lifelong member of the Order of Chartered Accountants after his formal retirement last year at ninety-two. Henry was a Past President and lifelong member of Congregation Beth Ora and was also a member of the Shaar Hashomayim community. He was also a lifelong member of the Amici Club. Henry's greatest enjoyments in life came from his children, his grandchildren, his work, weekends in Vermont, summer vacations on Cape Cod, sharing it all with Millie, who was simply the love of his life. The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Hemodialysis Unit at the Jewish General Hospital. Special thanks to his caregivers for their dedication and support. Funeral service took place from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Friday, March 30. Due to the advent of Passover there will be no shiva. Donations in Henry's memory may be made to the "Henry L. Garber Memorial Fund for the Hemodialysis Unit" c/o the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, 514-340-8251.
