SIDNEY ABBEY

Mt. Morris — Sidney Abbey, 72, died Saturday (Dec. 31, 1949) in Warsaw Hospital following a short illness.

Born in Dansville, he had been a resident of this community his entire life and for many years was engaged in farming in the Genesee Valley. Several years ago he assumed the duties of mail carrier and transported mail from the local post office to the Lackawanna station.

He leaves three sons, Charles, Henry and Lester, all of Mt. Morris; three daughters, Miss Clarissa Abbey of Mt. Morris and Miss Dorothy Abbey and Mrs. Margaret Hansen, both of Rochester, and one brother, Orlando Abbey of Springwater.

Funeral was conducted yesterday afternoon in the Wood Funeral Home, Chapel St., with the Rev. Maurice J. Verduin, pastor of the Mt. Morris Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Morris Cemetery.

[NOTATION: Daughter Harriet, who married Daniel Downey, was not mentioned in Sidney's obituary. She was listed in her mother Harriet's obituary of 1948, and she was not deceased at the time of her fathers death.
