NOVEMBER 22, 1947 – MARCH 11, 2023
Larry Abercrombie age 75, of Decatur passed away on March 11, 2023. Visitation for Larry will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 2-3 PM. At Roselawn Funeral Home with Celebration of Life Service to follow at 3 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home with Cousin Calvin Spurlin officiating with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. He is survived by his daughters Lisa McElrath, and Laurie Abercrombie, grandchildren Justin McElrath, Nicholas McElrath, and Chloe McElrath and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arlo Thurman Abercrombie, Vera Ileene Abercrombie, wife Valerie Morris Abercrombie, and granddaughter Erin McElrath.
Larry was born November 22, 1947, in Decatur, AL, graduated Decatur High School in 1966, then he graduated from Athens State with a Bachelor Degree of Science in 1978. He was Traffic Manager with Sterling Plumbing Group in Madison, dispatcher for Peppers Transport where he retired in 2008. He enjoyed Golfing, he was a member of the Elk Lodge in Decatur. He also enjoyed doing Ancestry and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a veteran with the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972were he was station in Japan and England. He married Valerie Morris in Flamstead, England on January 15, 1972.
Those serving as Pall bears will be Doc Abercrombie, Calvin Spurlin, Jere Spurlin, Bob Neighbors, Bill Walker, Danny Slaten.
