Larry Jan Madewell, age 80, moved on to his eternal home on March 6, 2023.

Beloved husband, father, papa, and friend, he was born January 1, 1943, at home in Haskell, Oklahoma to Raymond Madewell and Levera Pruitt. He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline. And they had 60 blessed years together before her passing in January 2022. Together they raised two daughters and a son and were a very important part of the lives of their grandchildren. Larry leaves a great void among family and friends. He was cherished for his wisdom and willingness to help anyone with anything.

Larry was a faithful member and deacon of the Jasper Assembly of God for many years. He retired as President of Tri-County Telephone after 46 years of dedication and hard work. After he retired, he enjoyed working on his Mt. Sherman farm. He spent many hours over the years checking on his cows with the youngest members of the family riding shotgun.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; his 3 sisters in law, Kathryn Hicks, Margaret Daniels Kelley, and Erika Raney; and one brother-in-law, Gary Hicks.

Larry is survived by his daughter Donna McDaniel and husband Kyle of Jasper, son Michael Madewell and wife Judy of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Melissa Holt and husband Steven of Jasper, grandchildren Lindsey (J.D) Graham, Ryan (Chelsey) McDaniel, Jordan (Brent) Gwin, Zachary (Kaylan) Holt, Ian Madewell, Kenadee Holt, and Emma Madewell; great-grandchildren, Abi Graham, Mason McDaniel, Cooper Graham, Raney McDaniel, Nate Graham, Noah Graham, Lainey Adkins and Maryn Gwin, and Tillie Holt; three brothers, Don Madewell (Davy), Eddie Madewell (Patsy), Dusty Traywick (Terry); sister, Karin Actin; and brother-in-law, Earl Raney; and many nieces & nephews.

The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 10, 2023, at the Jasper First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steve Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sherman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Pallbearers will be J.D. Graham, Ryan McDaniel, Zachary Holt, Mason McDaniel, Cooper Graham, Jarrett Davis, and Brent Gwin.
