Ralph H. Barnes of Greenville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Rick Hensley officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park. The son of Henry M. Barnes and Elizabeth Sylvia Gossett Barnes, he was born May 18, 1917 in Aberfoyle, Hunt County. On Aug. 10, 1941 he married Nancy Lee Riggan in Commerce. Mr. Barnes served in the U.S. Army, 65th Division, in Europe and received the Bronze Star. He was a supervisor with the Bureau of Corrections. He was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife of Greenville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Barnes of Green Valley, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Larry McCullough of Greenville; granddaughter Leah McCullough of Corpus Christi; grandson, Scott McCullough of Greenville and great-grandchild, Lainey McCullough. He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter, Elaine McCullough. Pallbearers are R. C. Burgin, Bill Daum, Jim Hood, Gilbert Voss, Bobby Spradling and John Paul Willaby. Richard Burdick is an honorary pallbearer. Visitation is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
