Joseph Thomas "Joe" Crone, age 80, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born in Corydon, Indiana to Mary Anna (Strahl) Crone and Gilbert Crone.

Joe was a US Army veteran and past member of the VFW, American Legion, and Eagles in Beech Grove. He was a devout Catholic and currently attending Holy Name.

Joe spent his working career serving the community, first with the Indiana State Police then over 20 years with IMPD as a Sgt. He then helped develop, implement, and run the Emergency Management System from the living room of his home. He was so involved that he became known as MECA 5. His grandson even thought that calling 9-1-1 was ok to get ahold of grandpa at work, causing a bit of commotion.

Joe also was a die hard bridge player and Monday games were not to be scheduled over. He kept a bit of bridge and lottery money handy in his pocket with his last little gift being a $6 and free ticket winner. Joe did extensive genealogy research and enjoyed trains and making friends on Farmtown on his computer. He was an early-adapter of computers and taught classes early on. He was dedicated to his family and would do anything for his kids and grandkids.

Joe is survived by his wife, Terry Lynn (Johns) Crone; children, Jeffrey Crone (Pam), John Crone (Cece), Stacey Richardson (Carey), Eric Spoonamore, Tammy Clark (Richard), and Jordan Crone (Fawn); 20 grandchildren; and 14 with one more arriving soon great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Monday, February 27, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home - 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church - 89 North 17th Avenue, Beech Grove, Indiana. Joe will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, Indiana privately in the future.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory may be made to Gigi's Playhouse, gigisplayhouse.org or Ronald McDonald House, rmhc.org.
