Janet was born in St Louis, MO. on March 28, 1928 to Emerson and Myrtle (Remaklus) Drury.
She graduated from St. Louis Park High School in St Louis Park, MN in 1946. She attended the University of Minnesota and Carroll college. Janet and her parents moved to Menominee, MI, where she met James K. Callow. They were married on April 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1998.
Janet was a member of the First United Methodist Church-Menominee at the time of her death. She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Menominee for many years, holding several positions in the church. Janet loved music and participated in the church choirs and local community choirs.
She was a long-time member of the GFWC Menominee Women's Club and the Menominee Study Club.
She worked for several years in the Menominee School systems and then owned and operated Knit Pickin on 10th Ave. She was a member of the Menominee County Historical Society and spent countless hours researching people's family and area history questions in the society's research center.
Janet was known for her knitting, cross stitch, sewing, and cooking skills. She was an avid reader and loved to travel and was able to see many countries.
Janet and Jim raised six boys on the Callow Farm on Bay De Noc Road.
She is survived by her six sons: James (Joan), William (Marilyn), Thomas (Kathy), Robert (Patricia), Paul (Janet) and Glenn (Liane);
nine grandchildren: Joe (Lindsay), Danielle (Justin) Verbrigghe, Jeff (Michelle), Greg (Meghan), Bryan (Amber), Jenna (Chris) Kober, Rachel (Sal) Marino, Katie (Mary Koger), and Timothy;
nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH of Menominee from 1 p.m to 3 p.m on Saturday, February 25th with services to follow. Pastor John Murray will officiate.
