FAYETTEVILLE - Gilford L. Heckathorn, 93, entered into eternal rest on Feb. 27, 2008, at the Fayetteville Veterans Home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Mountain View, Mo. He was the son of Leonard and Agnes Heckathorn. His wife, Gussie C. Heckathorn, preceded him in death.

He attended Fayetteville High School and Peabody High. He was a general contractor for 36 years. In 1972, he started Fayetteville Self Service Storage and managed the storages with his family for 33 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fayetteville, and was a former president of the Golden Eagle Lodge 108 in Fort Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Don L. Heckathorn and Jack L. Heckathorn, both of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Janet Heckathorn; one brother, Virgil Heckathorn of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Neda Moore of Farmington and Zelda Carson of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Don L. Heckathorn II and Tricia Heckathorn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 29 at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, www.mooresfuneralchapel.com.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.

Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery.
