Arby-Rush Kress Arby Sr, Age 88 of Jacksonville Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 2,2023. Rush was the son of Sylvia Kress Arby and Charles Leo Arby, Born in Boulder, CO on June 8, 1934, He grew up in Greenwich, CT and after graduating pomfret school, enlisted in the marine Corps spending 3 years at Parris Island, SC. Rush was a Pistol instructor, MP and Photographer Photojournalism became his lifelong passion. Rush settled in Jacksonville Beach and published numerous articles for newspapers and other publications including Surfer Magazines. He and his wife jane established Mr. Photography and Flowers by Jane. they operated their shop for many years on Third Street in Jacksonville Beach. Over their career, they were involved in the weddings of hundreds of current and former beach residents. Rush also established a relationship with Fletcher High School and photographed countless homecomings and sporting events. Rush was very gregarious and a popular man. He was active in Beefeaters of Jacksonville, was a long time member of America Legion , a lifetime member of Moose Fraternity ad was the first male member of the Jacksonville beach women's club and LTN of the beaches. Retirement saw Rush and Jane enjoy travel adventures and time with their family and the many friends who loved them.
Rush is survived by his children, Jeanette Wilson, (Jim) Roxane Spohn, (Paul) Kress Arby, (Angela) and Sara Kelley (Marty), his grandchildren, Michael (Jen) and Matthew Spohn, Jimmy, and Brad Wilson (Teri), Harrison, (Cameron), Marissa and Elaynni Arby and his great grandchildren Jocelyn Ott, Caleb, Cayden, Ella and Baylee Spohn and Rory Arby.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Beaches Memorial Park with Father William Kelly officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 at Beaches Memorial Park Chapel. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services at Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main Street, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233. 904-249-1166.
