A funeral service for Stella Fay Carlisle, 89, of Chickasha, will be held in the Bible Baptist Church.

Stella Fay (Ryans) Carlisle was born June 7, 1933 in Cement, Oklahoma to Claude Anderson Ryans and Mittie Nae (Cornell) Ryans. She passed from this life on January 28, 2023 surrounded by her family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Stella grew up in Cement and attended Cement and Verden Schools, graduating from Verden High School.

On July 20, 1950, she married Bill George Carlisle in Chickasha and they shared many years together until his passing in April of 1989.

She worked over the years at the TG&Y store, Kress Department Store, and Pet Milk. She and Bill owned and operated a local antique store, The Bargain Stop. She also managed their rental properties. Along with all of these jobs, she was a loving and devoted caregiver for her daughter.

Their home was the center of family activity, where all family and friends gathered for her wonderful cooking, to enjoy a cup of coffee or play a game of cards. No one ever left her house hungry; she doted on her loved ones and was caring and hospitable. She was very involved with the Senior Community Center and loved to dance. The grandchildren remember how she would feed her dog Sandy an ice cream cone every evening. She drove big Dodge pick-ups, loved having the grandchildren over, always took great care of her plants, flowers, and cockateels.

Later in her life, Stella was led to salvation by her grandson and then was baptized. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by both parents; husband Bill; daughters Connie Nightingale and Sharron Fay "Sherry" Carlisle; grandchild Cody Parson; great-grandchildren Zackary Parson, Keaton Parson, Kyrstin Parson, and Taylor Carlisle; five brothers and four sisters.

Interment will be in Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
