Singer. He was an American R&B singer and an original singer with the musical group, Blue Magic. The vocal group was one of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s. Founded in 1972, the group's original members also included lead singer Ted Mills with Vernon Sawyer, Wendell Sawyer, and Richard Pratt. The group scored an early hit with "Spell." Their most notable songs included smooth soul ballads such as "Sideshow," "Spell," "What's Come Over Me," "Three Ring Circus," and "Stop to Start." Blue Magic's debut album included, perhaps the most surprising of which was "Look Me Up," which created early comparisons with The Stylistics' falsetto. The real crossover success came with "Sideshow," a now-classic Philly ballad that topped the Soul charts and made the Billboard Pop top 10. The group split in the 1970s but reunited in 2018 for an episode of TV One's music biography show, Unsung, the group had not been together in nearly three decades, and there was talk of a reunion, but that never happened.
