Notes: James Coyle Higdon was born January 12, 1909 in Pleasonton, Iowa. (Parents were Martin Alexander Higdon and Ethel L. Kindred)He married Hazel May Davis son on December 18 1935 in Burlington, Colorado. to them four children were born: Erma Jane (Schneider) Higdon born November 16, 1936. James Clifford Higdon b orn December 29, 1939. Robert Eugene Higdon born June 18, 1941. and Margaret Elaine (Sapp) Higdon born August 24, 1946. As a young man he enjoyed baseball playing on Farm team in Colorado. The St.Louis Cardinals attempted to draft him to their Major league team on two occasions however he declined as to honer his M others wishes. His nick name on the team was the Flyer, he played short stop. I n his later years he enjoyed watching and listening to baseball, his favorite team was the Los Angelos Dodgers. Another of the stories told to me by my Grandfather was his cross country adventures as a young man on his Harley Davisson Motorcyle with a sidecar. As a young man Coyle as he was called worked as a Farmer, later he moved from Colorado with his family to Oregon where he worked in th e lumber industry driving Log Truck, and doing Mill work. Coyle loved animals ever since being a farmer in Colorado, after his retirement he raised and cared for Rabbits. He also enjoyed Hunting, and fishing. He also took up latch hook and enjoyed making rugs. He was also a very good automobil mechanic. Almost yearly Coyle would take his wife back to Colorado to the Davisson homestead where he and her would visit family and friends. Coyle was a very giving man, and would help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He loved his family and was remembered for his caring, and willingness to lend a helping hand. James Coyle Higdon passed away April 28, 1982.
