He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1964. He attended University of Texas in Arlington graduating with a degree in accounting. He then went on to receive a degree in Mortuary Science from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. This is where he found his true passion. He was the President of Mid-America College where he taught Restorative Art. In his free time, he enjoyed trap shooting and working on model railroading, but spending time with his family was very important to him. John was an avid animal lover. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Ashley Rogers and spouse Kent; Tahnia Slate; John Braboy III and spouse Jacqueline and Mary Kaitlyn Braboy and spouse Amber Butler. He is also survived by seven wonderful grandchildren, as well as the mothers of his children, Sherie Faulkner and Rebecca Braboy.
