Mr. Thompson was a retired accountant for Crawford Corporation and Louisiana Metal Culvert. In 2001, he received a certificate of appreciation from France for his services in WWII. In 1996, he was appointed by Gov. Mike Foster to the Louisiana Dept. of Veterans Affairs Commission. He was a deacon of Jefferson Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion and an emeritus life member of the Institute of Management Accountants.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Herbert Thompson and Maggie McGehee Thompson; one brother, Hilton Thompson; and a nephew, Bobby Thompson.

He was survived by his wife, Dymple C. Thompson; two sons, Leonard and Roland Thompson; a daughter-in-law, Gwen Thompson, all of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Donald Thompson of Gloster; a nephew, Tommy Thompson of Beaumont, TX; and 3 grandchildren.
