He was born August 22, 1889 at Minier, a son of John Matthew and Minnie Catherine (Hampel) Steinhour. He was married to Mary Susan Quinn in 1951.
He was first employed with the Schroeder Manufacturing Company at Minier and then transferred to Streator where he continued with his employment with the G & D Manufacturing Company. He retired in 1957 as plant superintendent.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish and the Modern Woodmen of America. He also played in the American Legion Band.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers: Charles M. of Los Angeles, California and Amos Steinhour of Carthage; and two sisters: Mrs. Elmer Tabor of Peoria and Mrs. Margaret Fesler of Argenta; and a half-brother: Philip Steinhour of Lincoln; and a half-sister: Mrs. Clara Oyer of Broadwell.
