Barbara Jean Smith (nee Beliles), 93, of Geneva, OH (formerly of Rock Creek, OH), passed away peacefully Monday evening, November 21st, 2022 at home while surrounded by her family. She was born in Quality, KY on March 4th, 1929 to the late Romie and Hassie (Harper) Beliles. Barbara is once again reunited with her loving husband of 70 years, Robert "Smitty" Smith, who died October 9th, 2018.

Barb was always actively involved in the Rock Creek community. She was a faithful member of the Rock Creek UMC until its closure on December 31st, 2019. Barb was a strong woman of conviction as she always knew how to make a person understand faith, the existence of angels, and the love of God.

She enjoyed volunteering at the church to serve Rotary dinners and also kitchen duty at the Morgan Hose Fire Department's annual pancake breakfast and Ox Roast. Barb's dedication and exceptional work ethic earned her the "Citizen of the Year" award in 2002.

Barb was also an active member in the Mother's Club, VFW Auxiliary, and Traveler's Club, which has been in existence for over a century. As a member of TOPS (Taking off Pounds Sensibly) and KOPS (Keeping off Pounds Sensibly) for almost 40 years, she even accumulated many awards and badges.

During her free time, Barb loved tending to her garden, keeping the freezer full of veggies, and canning her delicious tomato juice. She lovingly made custom blankets for many of her friends and relatives, especially her grandchildren which earned her the title of "Blanket Grandma!" Barb further refinished many pieces of furniture, most of which are still in use today.

After retiring, Barb enjoyed traveling with Smitty in their camper. They took thousands of pictures, hours of video while visiting friends and family and enjoying the beauty of our country.

Barbara will be greatly missed by: her daughter, Cindy (Robert) Zimny; daughter-in-law, Linda (Lynn) White; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Wolfgang, Jason Zimny, Robbie (Anna) Smith, Ryan (Melana) Smith, Aaron (Laura) Smith; great-grandchildren, Zane and Blaze Wolfgang, Julianna Hanson, Kyrie, Christian, Robert, Mike, Tony, Hayzel, A.J., Calista, and Jasmine Smith; 5 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Harry Baker; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; loving husband, Robert; son, Robert E. Smith; and siblings, Faye, Glen, James, and Bernard.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1 P.M., SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3RD, 2022, AT BEST FUNERAL HOME, 3210 N. MAIN ST., ROCK CREEK, OH. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday. Barbara's final resting place will be in Union Cemetery, Rock Creek, OH.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made in Barbara's memory to either the Hospice of the Western Reserve at www.hospicewr.org or the Morgan Hose Company, 3033 E. Water St., Rock Creek, OH 44084.
