He was baptised at St John's Paddington on 15 April 1856 and admitted as a pensioner at Trinity College Cambridge on 28 February 1874, matriculating in Michaelmas term the same year. He later became a partner in the firm of Dent Bros. and Co. and died at the family home at 61 Princes Gate just north of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, leaving a personal estate of £85161 / 19s / 4d. Two of his three executors were his brothers Clinton Thomas and Edward. He is also commemorated on his father's grave in Kensal Green Cemetery.
